Immanuel Lutheran Church is a Reconciling in Christ congregation
We are a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), Metropolitan Chicago Synod, and we welcome people of every age and size, color and culture, every sexual orientation and gender identity, socio-economic status and marital status, every ability and challenge. We welcome believers and questioners, and questioning believers.
As a Reconciling In Christ (RIC) congregation, we make explicit our welcome to people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions. We are also a member congregation of the Chicago Coalition of Welcoming Churches. We believe that God works in and through all of us, and so we invite you to join with us in worshiping God and in doing the work God is calling us to do together in our communities and in our world. We commit ourselves to embracing the work of anti-racism, social and economic justice, and environmental care.
Greetings from Pastor Mark Sloss
Welcome! Immanuel Lutheran Church is a vibrant Christian community where we gather to worship God and to serve our neighbor. We’re a place of warm hospitality, beautiful worship grounded in the ancient traditions of the church, amazing music, an openness to spiritual and intellectual questing and questioning, and a strong sense of social justice inspired by the Good News of Jesus. We believe and try to practice a “faith that feeds”—faith that feeds us spiritually, yes, but also a faith that leads us to feed others both physically and spiritually as we work for justice and peace. If you’re looking for a faith community in which to grow spiritually and to work together with others who are trying to follow the way of Jesus, we invite you to come and experience community with us. And please plan to stay after worship for coffee hour to learn about congregational happenings and celebrations. It’s where to get a real taste of this vibrant, God-centered, loving, and caring community.
